Every day, when we read the news or look at the world around us, we see so much evil and injustice taking place. Lawlessness, corruption, war, murder, theft, immorality…. The Bible tells us this happens because Satan, the devil, rules this world (John 12:31) and that the whole world is under his influence (1 John 5:19). The world is a mess and full of sin and people have turned away from the one true living God and from following His ways. The influence of Satan has spread into entertainment, commerce, educational institutions, the media, politics, religion, and many other seemingly “good” and enjoyable things.
The Bible tells us of another time, thousands of years ago, when the world was in a similarly evil state: “The wickedness of man was great, and every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. The earth was corrupt before God and filled with violence.” (Genesis 6:5, 11).
God eventually judged the world and destroyed nearly every living creature by flooding the earth with water. Amidst this evil world was Noah. He was a righteous man, blameless before God and a man that walked with God. So God, in His mercy, spared him and his family from the devastating flood.
The story of Noah is a warning to us because the Bible tells us that God is holy and He hates evil and sin, so Jesus Christ as the King of Righteousness will come a second time to reward the faithful and judge and punish the world of its evil (Revelation 1:7; 11:18; 22:12). Near the time of His second coming the condition of the world will be like it was before the great flood of Noah (Matthew 24:38). The world will again be filled with evil. People will be busy with their own lives and pursuits with no regard for God, and then suddenly, Christ will come with God’s wrath, catching the unprepared by surprise! Destruction will come on the whole earth and its people again.
The world was never meant to be in this evil condition. God created it to be holy, full of goodness, righteousness, and the glory of God. He meant for mankind to rule over and take care of His entire creation while being in a close, loving relationship with God and in submission under Him (Genesis 1:26; Psalm 8:6-8).
However, by Satan’s deception, the poison of sin entered creation. Humanity fell into sin, died spiritually, and was cut off from the holy God. The destiny of sinful man is eternal death.. BUT
Just as God spared Noah from the flood, He also wants to spare us from the coming judgment.
If you already believe in Jesus Christ as your Saviour, pay attention to what He says in Revelation 3:10 and Revelation 14:4-5
“Because you have kept my command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth”
“These are the ones who have not been defiled with women, for they have kept themselves chaste. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These have been purchased from among men as firstfruits to God and to the Lamb”
If you have received Jesus Christ as your Saviour and are born again, then you won’t lose your salvation but if you do not grow and mature in your Christian life then you will not be spared from being hurt by God’s wrath that’s coming on the world. Remember that Noah was spared, not only because he believed in God, but because he was “righteous, blameless, and walked with God” (Genesis 6:9).
If you have not yet believed in Jesus Christ as your Saviour, we encourage you to be saved from sin and death by receiving eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ. He is the Son of God who loved us paid for our sins by sacrificing His life on a wooden cross 2,000 years ago. He loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood. And not just this but He even wants us to reign together with Him as kings and priests in His future Kingdom on earth! (Rev 1:5-6).
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” (John 3:16-17)
We hope you make the right decision to believe and follow Jesus Christ, growing to full maturity before it’s too late!
“Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is drawing near!” (Matt 4:17)
